Shakespeare once said, What a tangled web we weave, when we first practice to deceive? Or something like that. I can t quite remember the exact quote, but the sentiment pretty much says that the more ways you try and fool people, the more chance you have of things going wrong, and this 2023 Netflix thriller is a testament to my poorly worded misquote.

Faithfully Yours is a Dutch chiller directed by Andre van Duren, with help from Elisabeth Lodeizen and Paul Jan Nellisen.

It tells the story of two friends with an arrangement that allows them to carry on their nefarious activities by using each other as alibis. Bodil and Isabel are married, but they have a bad habit of cheating on their husbands behind their backs and telling their partners that they are each other, which makes for a perfect alibi for them both.

It’s kind of the grown-up equivalent of telling your parents you were staying at a friend’s house, and they told their parents they were staying at your house.

In reality, you were both going to an all-night party that wasn’t nearly as good as you both thought it would be, and when your friend’s parents decided to check up on where Ryan was, it all collapsed like a house of cards anyway, and you both got grounded and lost your gaming privileges.

South Holland, The Netherlands

So most of the main action for this twisted tale was filmed in South Holland in The Netherlands. South Holland is a province located in the West of the Netherlands.

It borders the North Sea to the West, and Utrecht and Gelderland can be found close by if you head East. The area is pretty much as you would expect it, with an industrial focus on agriculture, fishing, manufacturing, and horticulture.

The largest port in Europe, Rotterdam, is also found here.

Recently the comedy thriller The Hitman’s Bodyguard was also filmed here, and the area is no stranger to the industry, as one of the largest film festivals in the world, The Rotterdam International Film Festival, is held here.

Different parts of the city were used in the filming of the movie, and a look at Instagram also reveals some images of the cast in various locations, including a beach scene that may have been filmed in South Holland.

The crew would have filmed on location in Belgium, as the Netherlands and Belgium share a border. Filming in Belgium helps to authenticate the film s premise by shooting there.
