Timothy Theodore Duncan is an American former National Basketball Association basketball player for the San Antonio Spurs. He is widely regarded as the greatest power forward of all time and one of the finest players in NBA history, earning the moniker “the Big Fundamental.”

The Big Fundamental maintained a subdued profile throughout his legendary career, during which he was virtually unanimously regarded as the greatest power forward of all time. As a five-time NBA champion, two-time MVP, and 15-time All-Star, he retired in a manner that was expected by all – without fanfare or grandeur. While it appears that Timmy D is currently enjoying himself, his pre-retirement transition period was not as seamless. In 2013, Tim went through a divorce near the conclusion of his career. Two years later, he also had to sue his investment adviser “for more than $20 million” for advising him to purchase investments with a conflict of interest that ultimately failed. The case was resolved in favor of the former NBA champion and justice was served.

Coaching Profession
Duncan rejoined the San Antonio Spurs on July 22, 2019, this time as an assistant coach following his retirement as a player. On March 3, 2020, he made his debut as an interim head coach and lead the Spurs to a 104-103 victory over the Charlotte Hornets.
Personal Life
In July 2001, Duncan wed Amy Sherrill, and they divorced in August 2013. They have two children together. In 2017, Duncan and his longstanding girlfriend Vanessa Macias welcomed a child. Several “Tim Duncan Day” celebrations and the Virgin Islands Medal of Honor have been held in his honor.

Other Ventures
In 2001, Duncan established the Tim Duncan Foundation. It provides funding for health awareness, education, and juvenile sports programs in San Antonio, Winston-Salem, and the United States Virgin Islands. In 2001 and 2002, the Foundation helped raise more than $350,000 for breast and prostate cancer research. In 2013, Duncan launched the vehicle customization shop BlackJack Speed Shop in San Antonio, Texas. It is in close proximity to the San Antonio Spurs practice facility. In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, BlackJack Speed Shop collaborated with the Tim Duncan Foundation to collect and distribute relief supplies to hurricane victims.
Financial Fraud Lawsuit
In 2015, Duncan filed a lawsuit against his former investment advisor, alleging he had lost over $20 million. In September 2016, a federal grand jury indicted the advisor on two counts of wire fraud in relation to Duncan’s case. In April 2017, the advisor pleaded guilty to wire fraud. In June 2018, they reached a settlement, and Duncan received $7.5 million.
