The Honorable Mike Pence, Vice President of the United States, will be addressing Congress attendees at the conclusion of the Opening Ceremony. In preparation, you are strongly encouraged to arrive EARLY to get through security and to your seats.


Onsite FAQs

When and where is registration?
Registration will take place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in the East Salon during the following hours:

  • Saturday, 19 October: 1300–1800 hrs
  • Sunday, 20 October: 0800–1800 hrs
  • Monday, 21 October: 0700–1600 hrs
  • Tuesday, 22 October: 0800–1600 hrs
  • Wednesday, 23 October: 0800–1600 hrs
  • Thursday, 24 October: 0800–1600 hrs
  • Friday, 25 October: 0800–1600 hrs

Can I register onsite?
Yes, you can. Come to the Registration desk onsite. You can even streamline the process by pre-registering online and picking up your badge at scan and go.

Will I be able to pay by international currency (i.e. Euro) for onsite registration?
AIAA accepts US currency only. However, we will accept travelers checks and personal checks onsite.

How do I get my badge onsite?
If you have pre-registered for the conference and DO NOT have a pending balance, you will go directly to Scan & GO.

If you have a pending balance as an offline payment, paying cash onsite, paying by check onsite, or paying by credit card onsite, you will need to go to Registration.

Are registrations transferable?
Registrations are transferable on a case-by-case basis. Contact for more information.

After October 11, 2019, we will no longer be able to accommodate any requests to transfer.

Will I be able to purchase the Technical Tours or Gala onsite?
The Technical Tours and Gala are sold out and will not be sold onsite.

I purchased a Technical Tour or a Gala ticket, I see a ticket attached to my badge, how do I get my purchased ticket?
You can pick up your tickets at the Tour booth found in the registration area in the East Salon. Your badge will have a colored icon, which will indicate to onsite staff that you purchased tickets to the Gala or Technical Tours.

Where do I pick up my conference materials?
You can pick up your conference materials onsite Conference Materials Pick Up Booth

Your conference materials will be indicated by a G, T, or   and a bag icon on your badge.

General FAQs

Can I modify my registration?
Yes. To modify your registration details, add a ticket or an Accompanying Person, please go to our registration page and click the button "Already Registered? Modify your registration"

Can I pay for registration via bank wire transfer, ACH, or Check?
Yes, AIAA accepts bank wire transfer as a means of payment through our online registration system. You can request this payment method during the registration process. All attendees are responsible for bank transfer fees. Failure to make the full registration payment will keep your registration in Pending Approval and the registration will not be approved until the balance is paid.

What do I need onsite to check in for the event if I am already registered?
To speed the onsite check-in process, bring a copy of the Scan-and-Go barcode you received via email upon completing your registration.

Is funding or sponsorship available for individual attendance at the event?
AIAA and associated partners do not provide funding or sponsorship for individuals to travel and attend this event.

Can I work as a volunteer in exchange for registration to the event?
No. AIAA and the associated organizations do not have volunteer opportunities in exchange for IAC registration.  

If I am an AIAA member, do I get a discount for IAC.
There are no discounts provided to AIAA members. If you are an employee or elected officers of an IAF member organization or are current members of the IAA and the IISL, you qualify for the Delegate Member registration discount.

Can I cancel my registration if I am not able to travel to the event?
Event registration cancellations can be made through the registrant’s profile. You will need the registering email address and conformation number to log in.  There will be a $94  (75€) cancellation fee applied to cancelations made before September 21, 2019. Registrants who cancel beyond this date or fail to attend the conference will forfeit the entire fee. For questions, contact

Are registrations transferable?

How can I request a letter of invitation?
If you plan to attend the International Astronautical Congress event held in the United States and you require a visa for travel, you must apply for a visa with the U.S. embassy (consular division) or a U.S. consulate with ample time for processing. Advance travel planning and early visa application are important. AIAA strongly suggests that you submit your formal application to U.S. authorities a minimum of 120 days in advance of the date of anticipated travel. For more information, please visit our

How do I book my hotel?
You will have the option to book your hotel after your registration has been submitted. A full list of hotels and associated blocks can be found 

Are there any travel packages available?
AIAA and the associated societies do not have travel packages to attend the event. Each individual is responsible for their travel arrangements.

Are there any sights to see in Washington, D.C.?
