Due to the WGA strike, work on Marvel’s planned Daredevil: Born Again series for Disney+ has been halted for the remainder of the week. At this point, it’s unknown when production will start up again.
Deadline reported that the WGA East’s targeted picketing effort had a substantial impact on the Daredevil: Born Again set in New York. Outside of Silvercup East, where the Marvel revival is filming, WGA members started a strike on Monday.
Members of Teamster Local 817 and IATSE Locals 829 and 52 refused to cross the line due to a morning picket, so the show ended that day at about 1 p.m. ET without any filming. The following day, when production was set to resume, picketers were back in full force. On Tuesday, WGA East tweeted that Daredevil in Brooklyn had been shut down totally as a victory declaration.
The project’s filming started roughly two months ago, and it will likely carry on until November 15, 2023. It was previously disclosed that the project will be produced by Blind Faith Productions LLC and will be filmed under the working title Out the Kitchen.
In the Disney+ Original series Daredevil: Born Again, Charlie Cox and Vincent D. Onofrio will both play major roles.

From 2015 through 2018, Cox portrayed Matt Murdock/Daredevil in the Marvel series on Netflix. He also had an appearance in the Defenders spinoff series. Most recently, he appeared in Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk Attorney at Law in a cameo role.
In the Disney+ series Hawkeye, Vincent D. Onofrio, who played Wilson Fisk in the original Daredevil series, recently played Kingpin again. The two will also play the same characters in the upcoming Disney+ series Echo, whose launch date was previously set for 2023.
Jon Bernthal’s involvement in the series as Frank Castle, a.k.a. The Punisher, has recently been confirmed. The Punisher was a character that Bernthal initially portrayed in the second season of Netflix‘s original Daredevil series, which gave rise to the two-season 2017–19 run of The Punisher.
Prequel to Sopranos actor key role has been added to the cast of Born Again by Michael Gandolfini (The Many Saints of Newark), Arty Froushan (Carnival Row), Margarita Levieva (The Deuce), and Sandrine Holt (American Gigolo). Holt will reportedly portray Wilson Fisk’s wife, Vanessa Fisk. Michael Gaston (Mayor of Kingstown, Chicago P.D.) and Nikki M. James (The Book of Mormon) have both been cast in unspecified roles.
