Singer and actor David Byrne is of Scottish and American descent.
Byrne was a founding member of the American new wave band Talking Heads and its principal songwriter, lead vocalist, and guitarist. He has released solo albums and worked in a variety of media, such as film, photography, opera, fiction, and nonfiction.

Early Years
David Byrne was born in Dumbarton, Dunbartonshire, Scotland on May 14, 1952.
After his birth, his parents relocated to Hamilton, Ontario, in Canada. Byrne worked for Westinghouse Electric Corporation as an electronics engineer.
His mom was an educator. The family left Scotland in part because there were few jobs requiring his father’s engineering talents, and in part due to tensions in the extended family resulting from his parents’ “mixed marriage.”

Career
Byrne has released solo albums and worked in multiple mediums, including film, photography, and opera. He has won Grammy, Academy Award, and Golden Globe awards. The Talking Heads performed their first show in 1975 and published eight studio albums prior to going on hiatus in 1988.
The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002, at which time they also performed four songs, including Psycho Killer and Burning Down the House. Byrnes released a number of solo albums and toured with English musician and composer Brian Eno.
Additionally, he composed music for theatrical productions, founded the record label Luaka Bop, established an internet radio station (Radio David Byrne), and published the sketchbook Arboretum in 2006.
In 1989, he and Adelle Lutz welcomed a daughter named Malu Abeni Valentine. Byrne and Lutz divorced in 2004. Subsequently, he developed a romantic relationship with art curator Louise Neri. Byrne is an avid cyclist, and in 2008 he devised several bicycle parking racks.
