The plot, which stars Kate Mara and Brian Tyree Henry, unfolds across three timelines, each of which is influenced by the others. - In the past, Poet was taught to do an aggressive J-turn by the FBI, which pays off in the future timeline when she s pulled over and almost arrested for manually driving instead of allowing her Tesla to drive itself.
- In the present timeline, Hour has developed Better Life, a connected database designed to allow FBI agents to share resources and knowledge in real-time. However, the Bureau pushes back against the system and shuts it down.
- Tayo hits a brick wall in his hunt for Mark Tupirik and turns to Hour s system for help. Better Life helps him catch Tupirik, however, the man seems happy to be imprisoned and warns Tayo that something s coming.
- In the future, Poet takes the information Amos gave her to Hour. It reveals that the system is now self-aware and is operating without human input and that Tayo knows more than he s letting on.
