Back in the day! Ashanti and her ex-boyfriend Nelly were recently seen holding hands, and now their fans want to know if the two are back together after being apart for a long time.
The “Foolish” singer, who is 42, and the rapper, who is 48, went to a boxing match in Las Vegas on April 22. They watched Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia fight while sitting next to each other in ringside seats.

Ashanti wore a short black dress with crystals around the edges. The “Country Grammar” singer wore a hoodie with a black-and-white pattern. Cameras caught Nelly grabbing his date’s hand as they walked through the crowd as they left the main floor later that night.
“This wasn’t on my Bingo card,” one fan joked on Twitter. “Early 2000s are coming back!” Ashanti also posted a video of her outfit from the event to her Instagram Story with the description “Oh hey” and a winking face emoji.
Nelly wasn’t mentioned in the post, but his signature hoodie could be seen to her right. After meeting at a press gathering for the 45th Annual Grammy Awards, the “Always on Time” singer and the St. Lunatics member dated on and off from 2003 to 2013.
When they were together, the couple kept their relationship pretty quiet, but two years after they broke up, Ashanti talked about why they broke up. During an interview on The Meredith Vieira Show in March 2015, the former Army Wives star said, “I think sometimes when people have their own insecurities, it lets them act out of character.”
“I’ve been betrayed.” Ashanti didn’t say what went wrong in detail, but she did hint that she and Nelly had grown apart. “Again, all you can do is grow. “You need to get older and take responsibility for what you do,” she said.
“I don’t like it when people are afraid. I think it’s important to know who you are, what you want, and how to get it. I’m somewhere different right now.” Fans went crazy when the two got back together to sing their 2009 hit “Body on Me” at a show in Arizona in December of last year.

In an interview on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen a few days after the show, Ashanti talked about the chance of them getting back together.”I read many comments. “Wow,” was all I could say.
“There were a lot of comments and a lot of people who wanted us to get back together,” the “Happy” singer said when a fan called in and asked if she and Nelly would be the next Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, who got back together after almost 20 years apart in 2021.
“I will say that we are in a better place,” he said. We’re all right now. We talked to each other, so it was cool.” Ashanti didn’t say for sure that they wouldn’t get back together when host Andy Cohen asked her straight out if they would. “I mean, I don’t…” she started, then broke out laughing.
