Named for Washington, D.C.’s first elected mayor, the Walter E. Washington Convention Center is a fitting venue for events of great importance.
A world gathering deserves a world-class space. Its downtown location on Mt. Vernon Place puts it right in the middle of an array of hotels and dining options. Served by the Mt. Vernon Square Metro station, the convention center is a short distance away from Washington, D.C.’s major attractions and world-renowned restaurants. In short, it’s the perfect location for IAC 2019.
The building offers 65,310 square meters (703,000 square feet) of convention space, designed with the environment in mind. From the hall’s low-emission glass that moderates temperatures while providing abundant natural light to its state-of-the-art HVAC systems coupled with its recycling programs, IAC 2019 will be a green event. In addition, special roofing technology and a sound dampening design keeps noise in the hall to a minimum, assuring few interruptions to ongoing meetings or consultations on the exhibit floor.
The convention center can accommodate committee meetings to technical sessions to larger workshops, and plenary sessions—plus, the vast exhibition space needed for IAC 2019.
The largest convention center in the area, the venue boasts 77 break-out rooms, including 34 rooms wired for meetings, ranging in size from 51 square meters to 390 square meters (550 square feet to 4,200 square feet), with state-of-the-art audiovisual and telecommunications facilities and Wi-Fi capacity. This location will make communications between attendees, and between journalists and their media sources, easy and secure.
The main plenary session space measures 4,831 square meters (52,000 square feet), and features soaring ceilings. It will be a stunning venue for the event’s opening and closing ceremonies, and will accommodate 4,600 attendees in theater-style seating.
The Exhibit Hall, with over 21,367 square meters (230,000 square feet) available, can accommodate over 950 exhibit booths, allowing IAC 2019 to have a dynamic and impressive exhibits area.
With plenty of ancillary seating available, finding room for a meeting or collaboration will be easy—after all, it’s these types of meetings that drive discovery and innovation in our community.
